Back in the mid-1990's, BADX member John Doty wrote some excellent posts in the rec.radio.shortwave newsgroup about low noise antennas. At the time, I was webmaster for the BADX website and I received his permission to host his material there. Now they have spread across the net, although the most illuminating one, which was illustrated with some graphs, seems to have disappeared. I suspect it is still on the BADX website but it doesn't appear to be linked from the BADX main page. The formatting of them has also been a bit mangled.
I haven't seen John in twenty years. I don't know where he got off to, after he stopped attending the BADX meetings. I hope he and his family are well. I learned a lot from him. I'm taking the liberty of re-posting his articles here. John, if you object, please let me know.
